For the Gobbles design (under kits) I used this auto prodding tool which simplified the prodding process by making the insertion of each strip a single operation. Working from the finished side, I pushed the prodder in-and-out of the backing so it went under 2-3 backing strands. I placed one of the strips in the jaw of the auto prodder and pulled it back through the backing until half of the “feather” had passed through. I released the prodder and adjusted the strip so it extended evenly from the backing. I left approximately l/2-inch prodding distance between colors to make Gobbles' plumage a “spectacular” display.
